Hi everyone,
Please plan your travel to Chicago for SIOE this year to arrive in time for another edition of AI Bootcamp! The program this year is sponsored by the Cooperative AI Foundation (which also is a great source for grant funding…) and will run from 9 am to 4 pm on Thursday, June 27. We will need you to register but there is no fee for SIOE registrants and we’ll wrap up in time for the opening Keynote.
The program will kick off with a basic introduction to current AI techniques such as reinforcement learning and the methods used to train, and fine-tune, large language/multimodal models (LLMs) and an overview of the current landscape of cooperative AI and AI alignment. You’ll also get an introduction to the emerging domain of studying LLM-based agents in multiagent environments—a simulation context that is offering important new opportunities for social science research. Then, after a sponsored lunch, we’ll reconvene for an afternoon session with discussions of current topics at the interface of AI and SIOE research such as democracy, cultural evolution, human-AI cooperation, contracting, and more.
Hope to see you there!
