The fourth annual Summer Institute on Organizations and Their Effectiveness will be held at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University during July 8 through 20, 2019. The institute is aimed at assistant professors with demonstrated backgrounds in at least one kind of organization (or organized activity) and at least one discipline’s approach to such issues.
A central goal of the institute is to broaden participants' exposures to different kinds of organizations (such as firms, schools, hospitals, agencies, and social movements) and to different disciplines' approaches to understanding them (such as communications, economics, ethnography, political science, and sociology).
The institute is led by Bob Gibbons (MIT) and Woody Powell (Stanford) and includes guest lectures and other visits by faculty and practitioners from other fields and domains. Fifteen fellowships will be awarded to cover tuition, room and board, and travel. See comments from past participants and learn how to apply here.
