CfP: Workshop on Economic Governance of Social Media

By Jens Prüfer

While social media have created a range of well-documented benefits, the list of negative effects for democracy, individuals, and society at large is growing (see here). The argument is easily made that social media’s negative effects must be contained. The question is how, and by whom?

This is the starting point for a multidisciplinary workshop on “Economic Governance of Social Media,” which the Tilburg Law and Economics Center (TILEC) will organize on 25-26 September 2025 in Tilburg, The Netherlands, and which will bring together researchers studying how to deal best with social media. Contributed papers stemming from the call for papers will complement keynote speakers from economics, law, political science, and computer science. Most likely, policy makers taking up the academics’ messages will be involved, too. TILEC pays for travel and accommodation. Hence, please send your best research in the domain and spread the call in your personal networks.

Submission deadline is 15 June 2025.
