In her keynote lecture titled "Rethinking the Corporation: Contestable Control, the Theory of the Firm, and the Importance of Historical Perspective," Naomi Lamoreaux (Yale University) gave a surprising historical account of the corporation as organizational form. While often viewed as the prime example of shareholder protection, she explained that corporations for most of the last century mainly protected entrepreneurs' interests.
