It is a great pleasure to announce that Federica Carugati succeeds Giorgio Zanarone as SIOE’s new secretary. Federica, who already served on SIOE’s board in the past, is appointed for three years and was introduced in person at the Chicago conference in June 2024.
Federica Carugati is Senior Lecturer in History and Political Economy and the program director for the undergraduate major in history and political economy at King’s College London. Before joining King’s in 2020, she was a program director at the Centre for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University (2018-20) and the associate director of the Ostrom Workshop at Indiana University, Bloomington (2015-18). She holds a BA and MA in Philosophy from the University of Bologna, and a joint PhD/MA in Classics and Political Science from Stanford University. She is the author of "A Moral Political Economy: Present, Past and Future" (Cambridge University Press 2021) and of "Creating a Constitution: Law, Democracy and Growth in Ancient Athens" (Princeton University Press 2019). Her work has appeared in leading political science journals, including the Annual Review of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, and Perspectives on Politics, as well as popular outlets such as WIRED, The Economist and La Repubblica.
